But what they don't tell you is that dietary restriction , even in disguise (intermittent fasting, "clean eating", eliminating entire food groups, etc.) can completely disrupt your relationship with food.

Result: you develop a restrictive hunger .

It is a hunger that is not necessarily physical.
It is a nervous, instinctive hunger, caused by the fear of missing out.

And it is this hunger… which ends up triggering the binges , then the guilt .


🧠 Emotional hunger vs. biological hunger: how to tell them apart?

Biological hunger:

  • Appears gradually
  • Calms down once you eat
  • You can eat any food

Emotional or restrictive hunger:

  • Suddenly appears
  • You feel a specific craving (sweet, salty, fatty, etc.)
  • You eat to calm or soothe yourself

👉 And it's not a whim.
It is often an unconscious attempt to regulate an emotion or stress.


🔁 The vicious circle of control

The more you control your diet, the more suspicious your body becomes.
He believes he is in danger of deprivation.
And so… it triggers even more cravings, more compulsions.

You find yourself in the well-known cycle:

Restriction → Cracking → Guilt → Restriction

And you exhaust yourself starting over, over and over again.
